Watermelon & Pumpkin
24 x 30, oil on linen
I began this painting many years ago. It just never worked for me. I wanted to add the pumpkin flowers because they were so beautiful and fleeting, especially the new buds with their cool blue and green exteriors and hot centers peeking out. So, I got down to task and grew pumpkins just for the flowers and blossoms. I finally succeeded and painted in the long awaited blooms and leaves. It is finally complete.
