Libby Stevens is an award winning painter known for her richly colored landscapes of Loudoun County, Virginia. She creates her works in pastel and oil and has taught pastel painting at Loudoun Academy of the Arts since 2002. Stevens is a signature member of the Maryland Pastel Society and provides art instruction in Leesburg, Virginia

This is a studio painting done from photos I took while plein air painting along the Shenandoah River during bluebell season in April. I was interested in capturing the back lighting that highlighted the glow of spring greens and unique color of bluebells.
